As Crafty as I Get

I am not a crafty person. Not at all. Whenever I get conned into going to one of those Relief Society super craft day things, I end up swearing at whatever cutesy little thing I'm supposed to be painting or gluing or cutting up or shellacking, and then I leave frustrated and depressed because (1) I just said a few choice four-letter words inside the church, so I'm one step closer to hell, and (2) I'm a complete failure as a member of the Relief Society. (By the way, I know some of you are thinking I'm making up the swearing part, but you can ask my mom if you need proof; she's heard me—more than once.)

Anyway, there is one semi-crafty thing I actually like doing, and I get to do it every Halloween. I love carving pumpkins. Now, I don't draw, so I use templates and patterns and other cheats, but I really like going after those pumpkins with a knife. I'm also not very social when I'm carving; it takes too much concentration. I just turn on Pandora's Halloween party channel and start cutting. It's very therapeutic. I don't know why; it just is. And this year I got these guys out of my efforts (sorry about the picture quality; it's the best I could do with my phone):
Happy Halloween!

Love the pumpkin art! They look pretty amazing, especially that wicked face. So, I have to admit to feeling a bit better now that I know I'm not the only person to utter a swear word at church. Just don't do it in nursery--word will definitely get around as kids go home with new vocabulary.

I didn't know you had problems with crafty things oh well not everyone wants to do crafts. I know a few. You have other talents that I wish I had. As for the swear words You have heard me say a few and in Church I say them in my mind I guess that is not good either. Love the pumpkins

I love the pumpkins. They are fantastic!

I may have some crafty jeans in me but I do NOT have pumpkin carving in me. Granted our pumpkin Pi this year I have to say was pretty good, but then it was really easy too! I was so happy when Dan liked the idea! I knew I would not be swearing at the ******* pumpkin! I was also glad that Sam didn't want to carve his and I knew Nick didn't care about his nor did I.

OK now for a little friendly Aunt lecture...I also must say STOP IT to the RS failure thing. This may be an unpopular statement BUT it is such a Utah thing to associate craftiness with accomplishment as a Relief Society member. Man I'm so glad our ward follows the handbook (so I hear) and doesn't focus so much on crafts anymore! :) You know what makes me swear? The words "super saturday". HA :)
