Sharing the Love

Late last February, I came home from my first Zumba class and posted the following on Facebook: "I'm going to be sore tomorrow, but I could totally get into this Zumba thing!" Umm, yeah, that may have been a bit of an understatement. Over the last nine months, Zumba has given me quite a lot: new friends, a new body (actually just my old body making a reappearance—oh, how I missed you), a new wardrobe, a new appreciation for chips and salsa, more self-confidence, and a sure-fire way to get rid of stress. But the best thing is that I'm happy, and I don't need a vacation or a U2 show on the horizon in order to be OK with life. That's pretty incredible. So I'm taking it to the next level. I decided I needed to share the Zumba love with others, so next month I'm getting certified to be an instructor. I'm very excited and completely terrified, but it's the good kind of terrified—the "holy crap, this is scary, but it could be the best thing I've done in a very long time" kind of terrified. Whatever happens, it'll be a grand adventure. Woohoo!

Yeeeee-haaaaa! That is so cool. Yes, hurry and get certified so I can come and schlub and jiggle in your classes. :) Or maybe the world isn't ready for that yet.

Love it! I think this is great. So if in your Zumba world you ever find something like a DVD or Wii game or anything Zumba that is totally geared to the male gender that would be great. Sam LOVED the Zumba classes in PE back in 2nd grade until the teacher started making them follow more stringently along with the moves. THEN it became a girl dance thing and he was no longer interested. I'd love to get him going with it and break the mind set.
