Hanging Lights

The Friday after Thanksgiving has been hang the lights day at my mom's house for as long as I can remember. And since I'm the one who's willing to climb the ladder and risk falling and breaking my neck in the name of Christmas cheer, I'm the one who gets to hang them. So I found my one pair of socks and the boots I use for snowshoeing and headed on over. I love Christmas lights—love them—but I still tend to curse at them when they won't do what I want them to. It's all good-natured cursing, I assure you. Anyway, after all the cursing and risking of my life, Mom has a very festive house that she and her neighbors can enjoy until New Year's.
But then guess what happened? Those &#*@! lights started falling down on one side. We can't have that, so I went up to rescue them, wearing the shoes I had on at the time.
Hey, they are some of my more substantial flip flops, and my feet were nice and warm when I finished.

Bare toes next to snow...I need to go sip some hot chocolate under my electric blanket while it's cranked up to high. And for good measure I'll use the space heater too. I'm cold just looking at your picture. And I'd love to know what "good-natured cursing" consists of in Katrina World. I can't quite imagine... :)

Hey, I'm fully in support of displaying Christmas lights no matter the effort, so whether you do it in boots or flip-flops I commend you for it!
