Faith Rewarded

My yard doesn't like to grow flowers. Tomatoes are fine. An apple tree is fine. Grass is fine. But plant bulbs or flowers or a shrubbery, and you get nothing—the flowers and the shrubbery die, and I think the bulbs disappear into some alternate universe. Being an eternal optimist (or just plain stubborn), I continue to plant these potentially beautiful things. And guess what I saw the other day?
My tulips are sprouting! Good morning, tulips!

Hurrah for tulips and here's to hoping you have no accursed deer come and eat them

Such a lovely sight. In my yard the plants are still asleep but the weeds are coming out in full force. Why is it always like that?
