Getting Away from It All

A few weeks ago my friend Leslie called me up and asked me if I wanted to get away to Disneyland for a few days. Umm, yeah! So last weekend, I spent three fabulous days in the happiest place on earth. The only rule we had was that there was going to be no worrying about all the issues we had at home—no work crap, no mom worries (for her), no "I'm so alone" thoughts (for me), and absolutely no drama. Heaven!
That is my favorite sign in the world. Ahhhhh. We spent three days being kids—eating churros and pineapple whips and Mickey ice cream bars and turkey legs and cotton candy,

screaming and giggling on rides (my hair on the Radiator Springs Racers deserves special mention for its awesomeness),

and watching fireworks and Fantasmic and World of Color, all while wearing really cool hats. OK, technically, my ears are a headband, but they're sparkly and purple!
Oh, and, in my case, posing by the cannon (with a churro, of course).

Unluckily, we picked the hottest weekend of the year to be in Southern California. Both of us started getting heat exhaustion (at different times, thankfully), so we beat the heat by heading out of the parks to get a pedicure and to go to the beach, where we built Mount Slurpee out of sand and sacrificed our Slurpee cups.
What? Were you under the impression that we're normal? Ha! Anyway, it was a grand time away, even if it was so short. It was absolutely fantastic to not have to think about anything—anything—that was bothering us. We had to come back to it, of course, but it all seemed a bit easier to deal with after a weekend of freedom.

And for those of you who thought I forgot the obligatory feet picture, silly people, of course I didn't! I give you happy feet on the beach.

I am so jealous! Looks like a great time . . . I'm glad you could get away and have some trouble-free fun--good for you. I envy your spontaneity!
