I hate Valentine's Day. I don't think I'm the only single girl who feels that way, but I thought I'd share just in case anyone was wondering. This year's celebration of fake plastic hearts didn't start out too horribly, however. I got to go to the Utah basketball game with Carter, and that was fun. And yes, I did break my Valentine's tradition of wearing black so I could wear red to the game. It was a good game, the Utes won, and I spent an hour or so talking to Megan when I dropped Carter off. All in all, not a bad afternoon. Then I got home and took out the garbage. There, stuck to my front door, was a flyer announcing a stake speed-dating activity. Nice. Some people get flowers delivered on Valentine's Day. I got a flyer announcing my singleness to anyone who walked by my door (OK, not many people walk by my door, but still). I wadded that piece of paper up and threw it in the trash and spent Valentine's night watching a movie and eating ice cream. Whatever.
Then Presidents' Day came—a much better holiday. I decided I needed to honor our fine presidents by going skiing.
Hmm, someday I'm going to get a real digital camera so I don't have to make do with my phone. Anyway, Richard and Carter were already going skiing, and they were kind enough to let me tag along and get me into The Canyons for free. Thanks, Richard, for sharing your ski-patrol perks with me! It was a wonderful day, with beautiful winter weather and great company. That's how you should spend a holiday.

Cool pics for a camera! Sounds like a fun day. You couldn't pay me enough to get in little thin strips of fancy wood all slicked up to go speeding down snow and ice! I am getting worse with heights the older I get and this doesn't help. Maybe there is a reason we don't live near real mountains. :)
