Shoe Therapy

Last week was one of those weeks at work where I did a lot but didn't feel like I did much good. Then on Friday somebody said something (he later apologized for it) that got me wondering what the heck I was doing with my life. Anyway, when Friday afternoon came, I was definitely ready for the weekend. I knew I was going shopping with my mom on Saturday, so I was already feeling better. The only problem was that we were shopping for stuff to wear to Joseph's wedding. Mom found a great dress—yay! But everything I liked was either the wrong color or an inch too short or had armholes that went too low. Basically, I was not having the greatest of shopping days.

Then we went to a shoe store. Mom still needs shoes for the wedding, so there was a reason we went in. She didn't find anything, but I sure did. I found these very cute flip flops, which I've wanted for two years, and since I haven't bought new flip flops yet this year, I decided I really, really needed them this time. My mom said she'd buy them for my birthday since she was going to get them for me two years ago but then couldn't find them when she went looking. Thanks, Mom!

That's all fine, but then I saw these other great shoes, which I have no need for whatsoever, but they were cute. The thing is, I knew I was buying them simply because I was feeling sorry for myself for not being able to find a dress and for everything that I felt went wrong at work last week, but I bought them anyway. I fear that I'm becoming a bit of a shoe-aholic, and I don't even limit myself to flip flops anymore—anything I can wear without socks is fair game. And even though I didn't need them, or maybe just because I didn't need them, they did make me feel much better.

Not a big fan of flip flops for me anymore. However, I must say those look really comfy!

Sorry you didn't find a dress but I think a frivolous pair of shoes is the perfect solution to a bad shopping day and a bad week!!! BTW, Camille, April and I found some great dresses by going sleeveless. Lots of stores have cute short sleeved jackets and sweaters right now.

Shoe therapy! That's what I should've done yesterday - I had a cruddy week, too.
Oo, I quite like both those shoes. Those look like Sketchers flip flops - I have a pair and they're pretty comfy. And I'm wondering if those funky flats are in my size. Those're great.
Good luck with the what-to-wear-to-the-wedding shopping. It always seems to be impossible to find anything when you're shopping for something specific.

I love the white flip-flops! My sisters (and even my husband)are all bigger shoe-aholics than I am. I had decided that I wasn't going to get a dress for Becca's wedding and I'd just wear something I already had because I couldn't find anything either. But just when I gave up I noticed a dress at Target (was totally not looking for dresses, it was just along the isle) and thought I wonder if this would work and voila it did! Good luck on the dress hunt...not easy these days!
