I'm on the last day of a fabulous 5-day weekend, and I'm not looking forward to having it end. It never surprises me how quickly I get back to what I call "Katrina Time" when I know I have a long weekend in front of me. Katrina Time is going to bed around 1:00 a.m. and getting up around 8:30. It's rather enjoyable. I always feel more awake at night, even if I get up early, so this way I get to be awake when I'm out of bed instead of trying to function in a bit of a daze for the first three hours or so that I'm up. Hmm, maybe I should make a resolution to try to be better at getting up early. Nah, that'd be one I'd break for sure.
See, I've never been good at making New Year's resolutions. I've never really been a big fan of New Year's Day anyway. There was a time when I was in college that my family kept getting bad news around the beginning of the year, so I resolved to move New Year's to July. Too bad the rest of the world didn't get the memo. Then last year I resolved to have a great date in '08 (you can thank my friend Connie for the rhyming), but that didn't happen either. So this year I'm making a resolution to make no resolutions. There's enough already planned for this year anyway: I'm getting another nephew, Joseph's getting married, Jonathan's going on a mission, U2's new album comes out (on March 3!), and if all goes well I'll be in Ireland sometime this summer. I'm just going to look forward to a great year, enjoy myself immensely, and hopefully learn some things along the way.

I couldn't agree more about resolutions. I like your view. Lots of exciting things this year. Enjoy the ride! There will no doubt be plenty to see, plenty to enjoy, plenty to contemplate and plenty to learn. I'm with you!
